Lines Served

This is a through station on the Circle, District and Piccadilly lines, which run approximately east/west through the station.

Layout

The Circle and District lines share an island platform 1 - 2 with platform 1, westbound lying south of platform 2, eastbound. This island platform is configured such that platform 1 is set a few metres west of platform 2. Therefore, the east end of platform 2 extends beyond that of platform 1 and the west end of platform 1 extends beyond that of platform 2.

The Piccadilly Line is served by separate platforms, such that platform 3, westbound lies beneath platform 4, eastbound.

The entrance from the shopping arcade is via steps into the northwest corner of an irregular shaped concourse, whilst the exit leaves, via steps from the southwest corner. The Circle and District line, platforms 1 - 2 are reached via steps from the northeast corner of the concourse, whilst the Piccadilly Line can only be accessed via escalators. The escalators from the concourse leave from the southeast corner to an intermediate level. A second set of escalators join this to a level between those occupied by platforms 3 - 4. From here, steps lead down to platform 3, up to platform 4.

The intermediate level can be reached via steps from platforms 1 - 2, though there is no escalator-free access from here to the Piccadilly Line.

Accessibility

There is no step-free access through this station and only escalator-free access to the Circle and District lines.

The Subway to Museums

The subway to museums leaves from the north side of the concourse.
