Overview

We describe routes between RNIB Judd Street and the following entrances/exits from King's Cross St Pancras:

The Euston Road South exit gives stairs-only access to/from King's Cross Underground Station, whilst the Euston Road North exit gives lift access from King's Cross Underground and step-free access from Level 0 of St Pancras Station. The main entrance of King's Cross Mainline gives step-free access within this station.

As the crossings of Euston Road near King's Cross Mainline are a bit difficult, we suggest you cross Pancras Road then follow the route from St Pancras.

Leave the station via the main entrance, there's an entrance to the Underground Station to your right, move forward, beyond this and turn right. Continue, to the first turning right, Pancras Road.

This is a two-stage crossing with tactile paving throughout. The post with push button and rotating cone is to your right as you leave the pavement, cross to the central island. Move right then left to locate the second crossing. There's a post with push button and rotating cone to each side, cross the second half of the road and continue, along Euston Road, past the entrance of St Pancras Station.

From the Euston Road North Exit

Leave the station, turn right and continue along Euston Road. You cross the double entrance to the hotel before you reach Midland Road, turn left here to cross Euston Road.

This is a two-stage crossing with tactile paving throughout. The post with push button and rotating cone is to your right as you leave the pavement. Cross to the central island, move right then left to the second crossing. There's a post with push button and rotating cone to each side, cross the second half of Euston Road. You're now on the left-hand side of Judd Street. Continue to RNIB.

From the Euston Road South Exit

Turn right in the passage at the Euston Road South exit and go up two flights of steps to street level. Continue forward to the first junction, Argyle Street. This is a single-stage crossing with tactile paving at each end. The post with push button and rotating cone is to your right as you leave the pavement. Traffic is one way, from your left.

Cross Argyle Street and continue forward. We suggest you keep to the middle of the pavement to avoid obstacles on each side. After some distance the wall on your left juts out with severe tactile paving before this. If you find this, move right and carry on.

Continue to the next junction, Judd Street and turn left.

Avoid the steps from Camden Town Hall which jut out from the left and cross the first junction. This is a level junction with tactile paving at each end. Continue to the next tactile paving indicating the crossing of Judd Street.

This is a single-stage crossing with a sounder. The post with push button and rotating cone is to your right as you leave the pavement.

Cross Judd Street, turn left and cross the first junction. This is a level junction with tactile paving at each end. You've now reached the RNIB building, on your right. Continue forward to the ramp. Go up the ramp and through the door on your right, then through another door into the foyer. The reception desk is to your right (about 2 o'clock). Turn right as you face the reception desk for the Resource Centre.

From RNIB

Leave the building via the main entrance, turn left and go down the ramp. Continue, across the first junction, which is a level junction with tactile paving at each end. As you continue forward, you need to avoid the upward ramp which juts out from the left, if you feel yourself going up hill, move right to avoid this. Continue to the next section of tactile paving which indicates the crossing of Judd Street.

This is a single-stage crossing with a sounder and tactile paving. The post with push button and rotating cone is to your right as you leave the pavement. Cross Judd Street, turn left and continue across the next junction. This is a level junction with tactile paving at each end. Continue forward, avoiding the steps from Camden Town Hall, which jut out, to the corner of Euston Road.

To the Euston Road South Entrance

Turn right and continue along Euston Road. We suggest you try to keep in the middle of the pavement to avoid various obstacles. In particular, the wall retreats at the end of the Town Hall building, some distance beyond this, there's a ramp from the right-hand side of the pavement. If you feel yourself going up hill, move left to avoid this.

As you reach the next junction, Argyle Street, the crossing is near the left-hand edge of the pavement and there are some quite sharp trees and other things to your right of this. This is a single-stage crossing with tactile paving, traffic flows one way from your right. The post with push button and rotating cone is to your right as you leave the pavement.

Cross Argyle Street and continue forward towards the steps to the Euston Road South entrance to the Underground station. If you find a solid wall to your left, you've missed the entrance, go round this and then down the steps. There is clear tactile paving at the top of the steps.

To the Euston Road North Entrance and King's Cross Mainline

The crossing of Euston Road is a two-stage crossing with tactile paving throughout. The post with push button and rotating cone is to your right as you leave the pavement. Note that the post to your left is for the crossing of Judd Street. Cross the first half.

Move right then left on the central island to locate the second crossing. There's a post with push button and rotating cone to each side, cross the second half of Euston Road and turn right.

Continue, across the double entrance to the hotel, before you find the Euston Road North entrance to the Underground and St Pancras Stations on your left. Describe Online has published a guide to St Pancras Station.

For King's Cross Mainline, continue to the next junction, which is Pancras Road. This is a two-stage crossing with tactile paving throughout. The post with push button and rotating cone is to your right as you leave the pavement, cross the first half of Pancras Road, move right then left on the central island to locate the second crossing. There's a post with push button and rotating cone to each side, cross the second crossing and continue on Euston Road.
