FIND AN EXIT FROM A PLATFORM

Overview

All exits are reached via the concourse, to which there is lift and escalators access. There is stairs, ramp and lift access between the concourse and street level.

The doors will open on your right as you face the front of the train. There is tactile paving along the edge of each platform.

Via the Escalators

From the northbound, platform 5, go towards the front of the train and take either the second or third passage from the end of the platform. Cross the central reservation and turn left.

From the southbound, platform 6, go to the rear of the train and take the first passage from the end of the platform and turn right to the escalators.

The right-hand escalator is normally the one you need. Go up to the intermediate level, continue along the passage which veers right before the second set of escalators. The right-hand escalator is normally the one you need. Go up to concourse level. You are in a short passage from which you turn left into the concourse through the second of two gaps. The gates are in front of you. The Wide Aisle Gate is at the left-hand end of the gate line and the exits you need are to your right of this.

Via the Lifts

From the northbound, platform 5, go towards the rear of the train and enter the second passage from the end of the platform. Pass the steps on your right then locate the door to Lift E on your right.

From the southbound, platform 6, go towards the front of the train and enter the second passage from the end of the platform, the door to Lift E is on your left.

Having gone through the door at platform level, you have to walk forward a few metres to reach the lift, the door of which will be open, in front of you. Go to the intermediate level, leave via the other door, turn left and follow the passage, which veers right, keeping right, to the T-junction. Turn left then, keeping right, continue to the steps up at the end of the passage. Note that this is about 300 metres in all.

Turn left here, follow the passage which veers right towards lifts B and C, in front of you. Go up to Level -1, concourse level then turn right. Continue to the wall in front of you, turn right then go through the door on your left, into the concourse. The gate line is on your left, with the Wide Aisle exit followed by two automatic exits.

From the Piccadilly Line

Via the Escalators

From the westbound, platform 1, go to the front of the train and follow the right hand wall to your right, then left into the central reservation and follow the right-hand side towards the escalators.

From the eastbound, platform 2, go to the rear of the train and follow the left hand wall to your left into the central reservation. Turn right and continue to the escalators.

The right-hand escalator is normally the one you need. Go up to concourse level. The gates are in front of you, there's a Wide Aisle Gate at the right-hand end of the gate line and the automatic exits are to your left of this.

Via the Lifts

From the westbound, platform 1, go towards the rear of the train and enter the second passage from the end of the platform and turn left to the door to Lift D.

From the eastbound, platform 2, go towards the front of the train and take the second passage from the end of the platform then turn right towards the door to Lift D.

Go to the intermediate level, leave via the other door, turn left then right into the passage. Keeping right, continue to the foot of the steps to the Victoria Line, at the end. Turn left here and follow the passage which veers right towards lifts B and C, in front of you.

Go up to Level -1, concourse level then turn right. Continue to the wall in front of you, turn right then go through the door on your left, into the concourse. The gate line is on your left, with the Wide Aisle exit followed by two automatic exits.

From the Victoria Line

Via the Escalators

From the northbound, platform 3, go towards the front of the train and take the third passage from the end of the platform then turn left towards the escalators.

From the southbound, platform 4, the exit is just behind the middle of the train, you need either the fourth or fifth passage from the rear of the platform. Cross the central reservation then turn right towards the escalators.

The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need. Go up to concourse level, then turn left for the gates. The Wide Aisle Gate is at the left-hand end of the gate line, with two automatic exits to your right of this.

Via the Lift

From the northbound, platform 3, go to the front of the train then take the passage nearest the end of the platform and turn right.

From the southbound, platform 4, go to the rear of the train and take the passage nearest the end of the platform and turn left.

Go up to Level -1, concourse level then turn right. Continue to the wall in front of you, turn right then go through the door on your left, into the concourse. The gate line is on your left, with the Wide Aisle exit followed by two automatic exits.

Go through the gates

Lift A, between concourse and street levels, is beside the South Exit, towards Green Park and Piccadilly South. There is stairs-only access to other exits.

Note that the West Exit, towards Piccadilly South, Green Park and Toilets was closed at the time of our survey.

To Which Exit?

  To the South Exit, For Piccadilly South Side and Green Park
To the West Exit, For Piccadilly South Side
To the Northwest Exit, For Stratton Street
To the Northwest Exit, For Piccadilly North Side

To the South Exit, For Piccadilly South Side and Green Park

Turn left. The ramp up to Green Park is in front of you. You can turn left and go up two flights of steps then turn left Onto Piccadilly South, or turn right for Lift A. Go up to Level 0, street level, leave via the same doors then turn left onto Piccadilly South.

To the West Exit, For Piccadilly South Side

We understand this exit will be open by 30 November 2011.

You're aiming at the passage which leaves from the far left corner of the concourse. Having located this, go down six steps and follow the left side of the passage to the end. Continue forwards, up two flights of stairs then turn right onto Piccadilly South Side.

To the Northwest Exit, For Stratton Street

Move to the right hand side of the concourse and take the second passage on your right. Go up seven steps. (If you take the first, you could turn left at the top of the seven steps then turn right). Continue, up four steps, then another flight of stairs before turning left at the top. Go down one step onto the east side of Stratton Street.

To the Northwest Exit, For Piccadilly North Side

Move to the right hand side of the concourse and take the second passage on your right. Go up seven steps. (If you take the first, you could turn left at the top of the seven steps then turn right).

Take the turning right, before the next set of steps, turn right again and go up a flight of steps onto the north side of Piccadilly.
