Overview

This area is divided into three sections: The bridge over the Metro Link tracks, giving access to lift, escalators and stairs to/from the platforms, the area at the foot of the steps/escalators from the platform level concourse and the level 1 concourse.

To Reach

By Steps and Escalator

If you use the steps between the escalators from the platform level concourse, you go down 15 then 16 steps, going south.

By Lift

The only lift serving this level from the platform level concourse is in the wall of the island, opposite the gate to platform 9, beside Thorntons. At level 1, you're on the bridge over the Metro Link tracks, opposite the steps from the arrivals platform.

The Area at the Foot of the Steps

This is a square area, containing:

East Side

  two sets of double doors, (open at the time of our survey) to Metro Link

South Side

  glass wall

West Side

  open doors to buses, taxis and way out - the level 1 concourse

North Side

  up escalator
steps
down escalator

The Bridge Over the Metro Link Tracks

This is a rectangular area with:

West Side

  two sets of double doors separated by a pillar, from escalators and steps
billboards
accessible lift between arrivals platform and level 2

The left-hand doors, as you enter are opposite the steps, whilst the other set is opposite the escalator to the departures platform.

North Side

  recess to steps down to arrivals platform, escalator up is in a separate well, east of this

This is another rectangular area with:

South Side
